Chelsea Sacks Manager Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea Football club has parted ways with Manager Thomas Tuchel after a disappointing start to the season. The club disclosed the decision after another disappointing night losing 1-0 to Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League.

The statement from the club’s official website says

“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club. Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here.

As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition

Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach

There will be no further comment until a new head coach appointment is made..”

The club has been slammed for some lackluster display after spending the most money amounting to £278.4 million ($319.9m/€323m) in bringing in new recruits this summer such as Raheem Sterling, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurrela and Fofana from Manchester City, Barcelona, Napoli, Brighton and Leceister city respectively and also parting ways with Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Marcos Alonso, etc.

Chelsea currently occupies position 6 on the English Premier League table with 10 points after 6 league games losing to Leeds United and Southampton and a disappointing draw with Tottenham at home.

It is being speculated that the club are monitoring the situation of Graham Porter, Mauricio Pochetino and Zinedine Zidane.

During the 20 months Thomas Tuchel spent at the bridge, he has won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup….
